I have an issue

I like to read, and I like to write. Everything that I write ends up sounding like the book I read recently. I love the story line. I always want to make up a book just like it. I wish
I could make twists and turns with the book myself. But the thing is, I wouldn't change anything but the names. Do you know what I should do? I hope that I have at least a few people that actually read my blog. I really, really want readers.

Book I Read Recently...

I recently read a book by Tamora Peirce. It was called Tris's Book. It was about this girl who was part of a circle of 12 year old mages in like 1098. They were recently recovering from a major series of earthquakes and they got attacked by pirates. Her name of course was Tris, Trisana Chandler. Her 3 friends were almost killed.
Daja is one friend, she is a metal or smith mage. She works with fire.
Sandry is another, she can weave magic. she is nick-named the stitch-witch.
Briar is one, He is a former street-rat who works with plants.
The main character is Tris, she works with lightning and weather, she is the weather-witch. She was transferred from family to family after she was declared crazy and unwanted by her parents . They didn't know it was just because her magic had gone unnoticed for too long. She finally ended up at a mage's school called Winding Circle and met her friends listed above.

Check it out. I haven't told you anything but the back-story, so the book hasn't been completely ruined for any of you who want to read it. If you already have, tell me what you thought.

About Me

  • I am both a writer and a reader. I sometimes wish that you could get paid just for reading books. Of course I know that you can be paid to critique other people's work, but I like Reading for pleasure. Teachers that used to make me read certain things that were boring, really made me think that I might not even like it anymore. That was surely foolish.
  • My favorite authors are: Nora Roberts, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Tamora Peirce, and Diana Gabaldon.
  • My favorite colors--though I know it isn't necessary--are: Green, purple, and black.
  • My favorite animals-- also unnecessary--are: Cats and birds.

In your comments, tell me what your favorite writers are, or even if you enjoy the same ones I do. I would like to check out any new authors suggested my a fellow reader/writer.
